law enforcement agencies are the biggest criminal organizations around.......and that is out of the mouths of other cops.

personally, I've met good and bad from both sides of the fence.

painting all Angels or Bandidosor Outlaws with the same brush is like painting all LEO's with the same brush. It can't and shouldn't be done.

In my opinion, respect is handed out for several different reasons. One, of course, is through it being earned. Another being that respect is also afforded those individuals and/or organizations which have the ability and fortitude to strike when provoked. Much in the samefashion as a cobra warrants respect. This, irrespective of whether or not one caresfor snakes. Like it or not, you'd best respect its' capabilities.

Agree with their lifestyle or not, the Hells Angels are a piece of motorcycle Americana; be it good, bad, or indifferent. This, there is no doubt. I think something has to be said for any organization to endure half a century. Again, good, bad, or indifferent.

Do I personally have respect for the Hells Angels? You bet your *** I do. Those patch holders that I have met have treated me just fine. I don't mess with them. And they don't mess with me. By that same measure, my having respect for them does not mean that I agree with whatever criminal activites they are purported to be engaged in. That's their thing. I simply respect them - as an organization - for having the wherewithal to life a lifestyle to which they are committed and resigned to 'til the end. Just my take.

Happy Half Century 81's.

Kinda disrespectful to patchholders don't you think. Let's not be cute because we're hiding behind the computer fellers.
Respect needs to be earned, not given away. There is a huge difference.
You must give respect to get respect. I understand most people don't agree with what the 1%ersstand for or do, butthat's no reason not to show respect, especially behind a computer.

I'm not a 1%er but I respect them for their decisions to go their own way and given other opportunities in my life I may have become one. I partied with theAngels in Anchorage AKin December 82 when they abandoned theiroriginal colors ("Brothers") andmajority of them I talked with were very cool people and sure could party. Each man makes his own way, and because your situation allowed you to be who you are, should they disrespect you because you are not a 1%er?? (I'm assuming you're not, forgive me if I am incorrect).

Just my humble comments, not meant to inflame, just provide some additional incite.

You dont have to.

But, it seems other members of this thread have ventured to treat them with disrespect, without even knowing them personally. They didnt have to do that, but they chose to.

Whats bad is most people here don't understand what 1%ers are about. It takes tremendous sacrifice and commitment to earn a patch.
Just like any group of people,..you have a bad element,...and a good element...it's present in all large groups of people,...you always will have that. All the public sees or hears about is whats in the mainstream media concerning outlaw clubs. Of course the media is going to always lay blame on them,.....historically,.."the man" has always tried to sway public opinion against anyone who does not conform to every single bullsh*t law and rule our beaurocrats decide to shovel us.
No one in here can say that everyone in thier "riding club" is a saint. You all know at least one of them who has questionable dealings.
We should educate ourselves before making foolish statements,...or jumping to conclusions.
Especially as bikers,......we should all stand together and support ALL the clubs. Our freedoms are being corroded away everyday. Live and let live.
Normally,..unless you just go out of your way,...you wont and probably have not had any dealings with patch holders. They police thier own,..and administer their ownjustice to thier enemys. Neverare you likely to see one at a function just out right start trouble. It would be frowned upon by his own club.
So don't be brainwashed by everything the media feeds you.How much of it do you actually KNOW for fact?I'll bet very little.
Show respect,..and you'll be treated with respect. Act like an ***,...and you'll get wiped.
I can guarantee you that no 1%ers are in a forum right now,...bashing rubs,...and wannabees,...or people who are in riding clubs,.....so why do it to them.
