Not much of a choice to me...Breakout wins by a mile.

You might want to look for a low mileage Softail Custom. It would be a few years older because they've been out of the line up for a few years, but you'd get that WG "look" in the front & the cleaner look of a ST in the rear.

I'd go Breakout in an heartbeat. In my opinion, softails can look more chopper like.

IMO you'll ride the WG more and farther. The BO is a cool bike.

I hate the breakout. To me the bike is for someone that wants a "custom" looking bike but doesn't want to take the time to personalize it and make it their own. I feel the same about every cvo model ever made as well. I would rather buy the most base model bike and spend a few extra dollars to make it more personal to my liking.

Wanted to edit this just to say this is my personal opinion of the cvo models before anyone gets butt hurt over it. To each his own.

Funny but when I bought a new bike in December I looked at the Breakout . . . for about 5 seconds. It didn't seem like a Harley to me. Seemed like a Japanese cruiser. Had little of the Harley 'feel' and vibe I am accustomed to. Maybe I should have given it a second look, but I have what I want now with the SB. I have since seen some nice Breakouts on the road. Though heavily customized. All I will say is go to the dealer and ride some bikes until one speaks to you.

as a happy wide glide owner I'd say they are fine.

but in fact it depends of what kind of road you'll ride... I like my WG because here in the South of France, the roads are narrow so it's a pleasure to play with a Dyna more than a Soft Tail .

if you ride US 40 from east to west sure a Dyna is not what you need.

Of course we can't make your decision for you, but seeing as most of the comments are saying Breakout, I have to give the Wide Glide some love. I haven't ridden the Breakout, but I have ridden other Softails. I personally chose a Wide Glide over Softails, twice. I was not on any budget when I bout my Wide Glide, so its not like I was settling for one. On looks alone, the Wide Glide just happens to be my favorite stock Harley, (did like the looks of the Night Trains a lot too though)

My Wide Glide rides fine for my uses. The rear tire on stock rims is a bit of a pain though, because there are limited choices and they are a bit pricey.

No butt hurting here. I've seen it said before so I'll ask, why doesn't anyone think a CVO can be modded to personalize it? Pipes, seat, sissy bar, handle bars, different controls, windshields, and other things can be changed. If you think you can buy a base Breakout and add everything a CVO comes with cheaper you might want to check the math. I can say for sure it's going to be more than a "few extra dollars".

A couple of things that really caught my eye me on mine is the paint job and the wheels, neither of which you can get unless you buy the CVO.

Just my own opinion and I agree, to each his own.
