I couldn't find a thread on Iron Butt riders. I believe we could use one. I just completed my first Iron Butt ride this weekend. One thousand miles in 24 hours.
Congrats on completing your first Iron Butt. The wife and I are headed out on Saturday to complete our Bun Burner 1500 Iron Butt ride. We completed our 1000 last year. We will go from Fort Worth - El Paso, Albuquerque, Wichita Falls - Fort Worth for about 1539 miles and we anticipate 22 hours and 45 minutes.
There are several threads in the touring of the Iron Butt rides.
A friend and I did a Saddle Sore 1000 a couple of years ago .. 1,030 miles in 16.5 hours..the 75 mph speed limit in ND helped; Eau Claire WI to Fargo ND, Fargo to Sioux Falls SD, Sioux Falls to Tomah WI, and finally Tomah to Menomonie WI. We're planning a BunBurner Gold for next year and hope to include the Lake Superior Circle Tour as part of it.
Been there, done that, got the T-Shirt. Fun to talk about but I personally see no reason to do it again. Now, what looks like a BLAST is this http://www.motorcyclecannonball.com/. On a ride last year, my buddy and I came across this group. Really cool old bikes riding across the country.
Congrats!! Leaving on Thursday to visit my Mother in Pennsylvania and then on the return trip gonna try the saddle sore 1000. Just shy of 1100 miles and pretty much all interstate so feeling pretty confident. Hoping I don't fall into the category of "My mind says yes but my 60 year old body says no."
