My first trip to Sturgis was two years ago, and that was without the wife. i rode with a friend who is from there, and relocated to Kansas several years ago, but still goes back every year (3-5 times a year) for the Rally. I am going again this year with the wife. For me its all about the ride, to-from, and around. Ive also been to BBB in Fayetteville, that one is not so much fun for me as a rally is concerned, that is a ll about the ride as well...Eureka Springs, riding the Pig Trail, and the Ozark National Forest. We also have a monthly rally here in Kansas. A small town by the name of Cassoday...the prairie chicken capitol of the world...a fun little rally, between 2,000 and 4,000 bikers on the first Sunday of the month.
Algona is the wildest time I have ever personally experienced.
I do BBB and the ROT in Austin annually. Had the privilege of living in Iowa for a year and went to Algona, it is awesome. Although not much riding, it was exciting.
Try Beanblossom Biker fest in September, small rally on private property, laid back, lots of music, some vendors, Easy Rider Bike Show, field events....ect.
$60.00 per person includes camping for Wednesday to Sunday.http://scootermaniaevents.com/index.php/bikerfest
I enjoyed the River Run when I lived in Vegas and now enjoy riding a couple miles from home to participate in the two Myrtle Beach Rallys in the Spring and Fall.
I'm sure this doesn't compare the big rally's, but the Hollister 4th of July rally is this weekend. Should be fun. It will be my first one. Nice part is I live 30 min away.
