You've confused me, hagar. Keep your left signal light on? Isn't that indicating that you will be making a left turn somewhere in the near future....Or do you mean emergency blinkers...(when both signal lights are blinking, to indicate a slow moving vehicle)?
Not that I agree that a beginner should be on the freeway at all, but wouldn't it be better to be in the far right lane (the slow lane)?
If you must ride on a highway and are uncomfortable going fast, get in the left or middle lane and keep your left blinker on. People will understand.
Why the speed lane? Why advise to have a blinker on? Maybe she's more visible but that doesn't do much to help her other issues. She shouldn't be on an interstate until she is VERY comfortable with her bike on the two lane highways around her. Grow comfortable at 55 then gradually move up. At interstate speeds, you only have a split second to respond to an emergency situation. The interstate is not where you want to learn how to ride IMHO.
No one should let anyone take them out of their comfort zone. However, if your comfort zone doesn't allow you to keep up on the freeway, you should stay off of it until you can. The average speed on freeways where I live is 75. You are inviting road rage if you don't keep up. Especially if you are in the wrong lane.
Apparantly you've never followed an elderly person (one that should have turned in their license) on an interstate. They go about 40 mph in the middle or passing lane with left turn signal on.
Honestly I'll try this a little slower it was a JOKE!!!

As my kids would say, "sorry, my bad." I usually look for the smiley faces or "j/k" after a tongue-in-cheek post. I must have missed yours.
