I just received a message from the previous owner. She told me that she found the original mufflers that her dad took off and a spare new-in-box chain. Score. $200 back in my pocket.
What's next? You get a call saying oh, I found this old '39 EL under some boxes in the garage??? LOL You must be living right!
Great thread indeed! Shoot man...you're making me want to put season 2 of Game of Thrones on hold. I can't wrench worth a damn but you got me lurking here.

I AM NOT WORTH SKIPPING GAME OF THRONES, but I am glad you are enjoying the project.
Original mufflers from EVO days and earlier are hard to find. Doubt I'll ever find original for my '89. And of course the replacements folks put on them are often the loudest they can find; that Kerker megaphone that was on my 89 was an ear buster. Wouldn't surprise me at all if some states pass laws some day that require OEM mufflers, good thing to hang onto even if you aren't using them now.

Thanks, that was a bonus, didn't notice that when I was taking the pic. His mom likes that one, too.
