I use my phone as a satnav so keep it on. I'm also self employed and not rich enough to turn business away by turning my phone off. But I pull over if I'm going to take or make a call

Phones in general are very rude..if i walked up to you and you were busy but kept bothering you every couple of seconds, wouldnt you punch me or something, but you will answer the phone. Navigation and weather sure is nice tho!

Maybe Im showing my age, but..

Does anyone remember giving out their phone number with a word first? IE my number was 212-615-xxxx, the 61 was NI which was Nightinggale.. So we'd say 212, nightingale 5, xxxx.. Think of Pennsylvania 6-5000

I remember our phone when I was a kid.Our number was 1934,no dial. You'd pick up the phone,and the operator would ask who you want to call.
My mother was an operator for Ma Bell.After they put dials on phones,she lost her job and went to work at a hotel switchboard.You've seen those in the movies-lady sits at a desk with a wall of plug-ins in front of her,and she plugs and unplugs wires all day.[to connect and disconnect phones]
