Last October I started riding and bought my first motorcycle (Honda Shadow Aero 750) at the age of 67. I love the bike, but I wanted to try a Harley.
After much research, I found a good deal on a 2012 Harley Heritage Classic. While I am still in the learning curve, I really like the bike. Smooth, stable, cushy, nimble...and good looking. It does generate a lot of heat, but I knew that going in and have a plan to reduce it. I haven't decided on the seat and handlebars yet. I think I would like the handlebars swept back toward me a bit more, and a seat backrest would be nice.
I had a bike years ago and sold it in college. 18 years later at 43 I decided to get back on a bike and get a Harley. Let me tell you, the only thing I regret is not doing it sooner and letting all those years pass without one. It's never too late to start.
I can relate to your excitement. Started riding midlife on a Yamaha 650 VStar. Rode it for a year to get my skills up then moved on to an 09 King. Enjoying every mile with her!
