The dealers I have been to always give them to me if I ask. I still have a bunch in the tool box I bought at lowes. 10 for less than the price the dealer sells them for. I imagine if you just walk in and ask for just the o ring, you will pay, if you buy atleast a quart of Formula+, all I buy, you will be good to ask for one. Never a hesitation from the parts guy to just tape it to the bottle for me.
Sorry, old news here. Been buying from a local bearing supply outlet for30+ years. I buy 20 at a time and pay a nickel apiece for them. If they aren't heat-hardened or torn they can be re-used several times.
Also, NEVER apply pipe dope to any HD drain plugs (for obvious reasons).
Thanks for the feedback but I'm not surprised, here in NJ they would charge for the air you breathe if they could. I'm glad to find there were resources other than the dealer because the kits I found didn't have the correct size and after you use them up the remainder are mostly useless. Actually I found them for .01 ea. but the s/h charges bring the price up a little.
Life is a perpetual learning experience, fool me once.
