Several months ago I got back into riding after a very long layoff with my XL1200T HD Sportster. Having more fun than a human being should be allowed to have.
My question is: do most of you ride with in-ear earplugs? It never even occurred to me to do that, but I already have some hearing loss from the Army and do not want any more. Guess I could give up listening to music while riding if that is the thing to do. I ride with a Bell RS-1 helmet which is pretty quiet.
I have learned several valuable things reading this forum (example: do not use Tire Shine on M/C tires -- recent thread) so I appreciate any and all comments. I am also a shooting enthusiast so I have a pair of superb molded earplugs to use if that is the thing to do.
I always wear custom fitted earplugs....tinnitus in one ear, don't want to make it worse.
If tunes are a must for you, you can get speakers fitted to them.
I always wear earplugs. I have high-frequency hearing loss from shooting guns when I was younger, am approaching 70 years old so have the natural old age thing going, and want to protect what I have left.
I have always been bothered by wind noise. I can't ride in a car with the windows down due to the 'pounding' of the wind and the wind noise while wearing a helmet is just as bad. The engine noise does not bother me.
I bought my earplugs at a gun store. They are not the disposable foam ones but are a soft silicone [?]. When they are in I can tell my ears are totally sealed. They were around $10.
Before anyone says it...I WEAR THEM FOR WIND NOISE. Without them, I can't even hear my pipes because of the wind.
I wore the before and I'm wearing them now. They're the kind shooters wear and I hate riding without them, which I do for the 6 mile ride to work. I've gotten my wife to start earring them too.
