RE: Does it look like something is missing on this axle?
Tactical1...
Correct torque and equal spacing front and rear! It is a 'pinch' effect! The gap is normal, and make sure that the 'out' stamp on the cap is facing outward.
RE: Does it look like something is missing on this axle?
If your talking about what looks like a gap between the spacer and the leg on the left side as you look at the bike, its normal. Your axle (on that side) has a raised section which meets the spacer but looks like a gap............don't ask me how I know

Cover yer nuts man ! What's wrong with you ? !!
Actually - looks okay to me. As was said, this is a pinching effect. You may not have noticed it before,as the gap could have been on the other side next to the other (uncovered) nut.
Ride it like ya stole it. Look on the brite side : If the wheel fly's off at a hundred, yer woman will probably be riding a new scooter compliments of the repair shop.

ORIGINAL: Tinkermc
mine does not look like that, on mine there is no gap front or rear but mine is an 07 and could be different.
My 07 RK Classic is the same, equal gaps, checked some in the dealers, all the same. If there is no gap you will pinch up on the shoulders and not the axle as intended.
Figure 2.10 in the 2007 Touring Models service manual also shows a gap.
