Thanks for all your responses on what temperature you all ride in. Saw some of you have heated gloves and vests. That is awesome! I will ride everyday!! (no snow or rain). Where do I find these?
Harley sells gear that appears to be re-labeled Gerbings stuff. Same price as far as I could tell. I got the gloves and thermostat from them and the jacket liner from a local after-market cycle store. If you order on-line from Gerbings, be sure to pay attention to their sizing chart and do the measurements -- don't guess.
It seems expensive, but the thermostat is something you want. I can't imagine going down the road flicking the rocker switch that comes with the cloths. And they can get 'way to hot to just leave on full blast all the time.
Ahhhh, yesssss! I have the jacket liner and gloves. ... and even a pair of socks. I wear the jacket liner quite often. It one of my most cherrished pieces of riding equipment. It has made such a difference on a long cold day's ride...I can't even begin to tell you how comforting it is to have that extra heat source.
I had a Widder vest and gloves for about 14 years. I now have a Gerbings jacket liner, gloves and electronic controller. I prefer the Gerbings.
The Gerbings puts out alot more heat so you really need the thermostat controller. The gloves connect to the liner sleeves so there isn't alot of extra wires. If you go the Gerbings route, a great option is the dual controller and dual wiring in the liner so you can operate the gloves and jacket seperatly. Electric gear can extend your riding season to 12 months a year.
I have a Gerbing's jacket liner and a pair of Gerbing's glove liners that I run with the dual temp controller. If you go this route, get the dual temp controller. I find that when it's cold, I keep the jacket cranked, and only need to use the glove liners at about 1/4 - 1/2. At full blast, the glove liners actually burn my knuckles!
Heated gear is awesome. It allows you to ride for longer periods when the temps are low!
