Almost nobody wears a helmet here. I would guess less than 1%

I know, not intended as a helmet debate. Only the coroner knows whether a helmet would have made a difference or not. Mentioned only because the news stories reported it.

Sorry to hear about your friend.

I'm working in Sturgis this week. Almost every day is see a near miss, usually involving bikes in curves or at intersections in town.

I lost a friend at Sturgis in '96. We had just had a beer together. He wasn't even moving, just waiting at a stop light. Here's to remembering Jim.

Yeh, and they mention it when it has NOTHING to do with the death. Just as you did without knowing the cause.

Sorry to hear about your friend. We were riding the Vanocker Canyon road that afternoon and came up to the site and we're turned around because they closed the road after the crash. I'm glad they closed it to protect the scene and the dignity of the victim. The loss of a local firefighter to the community is also sad.
