Personally, I bet you're the type that wants an equal shake. So I will answer like I would anyone else. Why the flarg would you need to ask? Just do what you want and screw what others might think.
Acceptable to who? If you like it, and don't care what others think...then yes. If you care what others think, then you should ask them and act accordingly.
Personally, I think my bike looks great with a sissy bar and no passenger seat.
Plus, I use it for carrying a backpack when on a trip.
I've resisted posting in this thread but it keeps drawing me back and calling to me, bugging me. But then, that's my problem; maybe I should start a thread about it.
I see two issues here on which I, of course, have thoughts -
1) Do not allow anyone else's subjective opinion affect how you configure your bike or ride your ride.
2) If this disagreement is a big enough deal between you and your BF that you have to resort to the Internet to help you sort it out, maybe couples counseling might be a good idea.
