For what it's worth, I've kept an eye on my engine temps and at 90F ambient +/- have found the following. Heads at the plug run about 250F, front of primary runs about 170F-180F, rear of primary runs about 140F-150F, front of engine around oil filter runs around 200F, behind barrels runs around 180F and gearbox runs around 170F-180. Can't read on chrome so I'm not really sure what the oil temp is. But I don't have FI and it's measured with an IR thermometer. I take readings when I pull into the garage so it's been moving before I take the readings.
Which isn't a problem since I ride a good synthetic (Amsoil).
I don't understand why you'd keep the Xied with a fuelpack though....
I had the XIED installed hoping it would cool the bike down. With the new exhaust I got decel popping. I checked with Nightrider and V & H and they both said that running them both would not cause a problem. I will probably have the XIED removed when I take the bike to the shop. FP3 stopped the decel popping, BTW,
260-265* at 70 mph? My 07 ultra is at 305...PV1 tells me that.......why are my temps so much higher than all the others I'm hearing about?
Bike runs well....no decel pop.......could get better highway mph(37-40)...ran some auto tunes with a map from fuelmoto....what gives with the temp?
Hmm, I've not seen temps over 250* ,Thats idling in stop n go beach traffic that doesn't get over 30 mph, in 90*+ temp weather, when moving temps come down to 235* . That has been average since installing Wards FCS. Measured with Power Vision gauges logging data almost every time I go for a ride. The digital dipstick reads oil temps up to 270*. No oil cooler 96 ci. 40 mpg city. My cruising zone AFR is just under 14.3 or .970 lambda.
Ive hit some pretty high head temps with my bike.
The highest I've seen was 360*f
My cruising down the highway temps run about 240-250, they were at a steady 266 when I had my 255 cams.
So, instead of letting it idle for 15 minutes (never again), today I just rode the bike normally in stop and go traffic, then on the Interstate. The engine temp got to 280 F in the traffic. It cooled down to 265 F on the interstate. When I arrived home taking some country roads at 40 mph, the engine temp was 271 F. Al temps are using the Vance & Hines FP3 module,
After parking the bike in the garage, I placed a candy thermometer in the oil filler tube and confirmed that the bulb was submerged. I covered the opening with a towel and let the thermometer sit for 5 minutes. The oil temperature was 185 F.
This seems pretty good to me.
A little bit of decel popping has returned, but not too much. I will see if the adaptive learning of the ECM changes running temp and the decel popping with time. If not, I may flash a new map with "competition" rather than "standard" baffles as the choice. Another option will be to use the Autotune feature, but I may wait until the XIEDs are removed.
This is too much fun for a retired scientist to have!!!

I run XIEDs as well and notice that it does a pretty darn good job at correcting AF ratio. I get some decel popping at times, but no more than when I had OEM exhaust. The thing about a muffler is that you can't hear the popping.

185 is very low. you have a Softail, I guess the filler tube is on the oil tank under the saddle? maybe the softail/B motor have cooler oil as the reservoir is outside the engine unlike A motors and this gives a chance to the oil to cool down a bit while it is being pumped back and forth from tank to engine.... I guess
