Personally, I find threads speaking to motorcycle accidents somewhat disturbing. Disturbing in the sense that it could very well have been 'me' or someone I know to which they are speaking about in said thread. I disagree in that they shouldn't be put forth on the forums for all to read and post should they feel the inclination. Initiatingaccident threads can- in many ways - be therapeautic for the individual in terms of allowing themselves a venue for garnering support fromfolks of like mind and circumstance.

The posting of accident threads can also be extremely beneficial to those who take the time to learn from what transpired. Many times, things can be learned as a result of a particular situation or response therein. Without question, motorcycle accidents cannot be avoided in many instances. Things happen. But there are those accidents which have been known to transpire as a result of possible negligence, irresponsible riding, poorly maintained bikes, and the like. Threads such as the latter serve as a reminder to all of us not to take our enjoyment of riding for granted. Safety first. Always, safety first.

I am also in agreement in that if someone doesn't like a particular thread topic that they should simply move on to the next one. It takes far less energy to simply pass on a thread topic than to take the time and concerted effort to put forth words chronicling how much one has a disdain for said topic in the first place. Don't like a thread? Pass. Don't like a particular individual posting? Exercise the block button and be done with it.

Try being a cop. We've had 3 killed in my county in my 15 years. I was there for one of them. We try to learn from their tragedy. We often watch training films from a fallen officer's patrol car camera.

If we don't post them, it didn't happen.................I for one would rather know about them. It reminds me to be safe.

I don't think anyone LIKES to read about a biker down, but, where else can you get support, thoughts, prayers from all over the world? I think that is one of the things that make this a great forum. When I read about a downed rider it makes me stop for a moment to channel my thoughts to that person and their families for a moment. It also humbles me and makes me all the safer when I ride.

There are many times in here when I simply don't have alot of time, so if I see a subject that doesn't interest me, I simply pass over it.

I agree that we should be notified when one of our forum members or their friends or loved ones had an accident. Just for the support. I personally don't like to hear about every biker in the country that had an accident though. It does seem that some folks search the obits to post "biker down" threads. JMHO

I don't read the "biker down" threads either, but to some they serve a purpose, wish they were in there own catagory in the Memorial section, next to the "on the mend" forum.

No one likes it when a biker goes down, but the families need the prayers and we need the lessons and reminders their much to be learned from some of the incidents, my butt has been saved on a few occasions from reading such stories! If you don't like them don't read but don't be afraid to face your own mortality by reading them! Learn, ride, be safe! And always remember cagers are out to kill you if you don't think so that's when it's going to bite you in the ***. I'm a daily commuter and am always looking for situations to avoid and actions to be taken.
