Sounds very **** and childish which makes me want to say FEM and do what you want. That said, being dual as well as living in the "other Blaine" - years ago I had a set of custom race leathers, maple leaf on each knee, American flag on on one shoulder and Canadian on the other. My vest has (had) a Hog patch, below that an HD and Dyna patch flanked by one US and one CDN flag.
There is a difference in respecting the flag, and trying to be cool and have more patches on your vest. I say leave the flags on the flag poles where they belong. You aren't doing anything to further the good of the country by wearing a flag patch on your shoulder unless maybe it's on a military uniform. Enjoy your ride and stop worrying if people see your flag swag.
i didn't get the impression that the op was just 'trying to be cool'. you are entitled to your opinion, re wearing/not wearing a flag patch, but if you're going to wear a flag patch, at least wear it correctly.
Back in my club days, you wore the flag where it's supposed to be, but now that I'm independent, I wear the U.S. flag on top and the flags of Germany and Ireland underneath. If you have a problem with that it's your problem, not mine.

Ride with a different, less **** group or forget the flags.
I was going to join a combat Vet group but they don't allow "rocker" patches...too much like a "biker club"...like the one I have on mine that says "Vietnam Vet". How stupid is that? Plus they're about the most unfriendly group I've talked to.
+1 screw those that want to control you. F....n' all ***** suck.
That would include the US government.
If the whole point of wearing the flags is to show respect for your countries, I don't see the point of not following the etiquette, as that shows disrespect.
I don't ride in groups, but if I did I would prefer to ride with old school/patriots, than anarchists or leftists.
So the only solution to me is to follow the rules or ride by yourself. If you want to have your cake and eat it too, buy two vests or use velcro and ride with the flag of the country you are in at the time, on top, as respect demands.
The world isn't complicated when you live by a code.
