Like others have said....get a lawyer! You can't know what ramifications you may be dealing with 20 - 30 years from now....and you very likely will be. If you don't pursue it now, you won't be able to do a thing down the road.

Lawyer up and get better.

Definitely consult a lawyer before signing anything from the insurance companies.

Whereabouts are you in Illinois? And, no, I'm not looking for business -- I don't do P.I.

+1 Any one over 40 will tell you about old injuries. They have a way of causing you problems with age.

Glad to here you made it through and will have a full recovery

Thanks for the well-wishes and the advice, everyone. Both mean a lot.

Already got a lawyer, my parents handled that Day 1. They've been more supportive than I could ever ask for. My mom took as much time off as she could while I was in the hospital, and my dad was with me for most of my waking hours every day I was in ICU and in rehab. Medical insurance has started coming through, albeit reluctantly. They were just trying to find someone else to pay, but were unable to. As far as Geico, they're the insurer of both my bike and the at-fault Saturn. They've assigned her 90% liability, me 10%. We're mainly interfacing with them through the lawyer, and that's a good point about getting the bike to a shop. I'll keep y'all updated there. I can't imagine them being able to delay much longer.

And as far as suing the driver goes, it's something I've heavily considered. As has been said, lost tuition, in addition to lost wages and, depending on what Geico does, getting a new bike. I've got gobs of pain and suffering I could go after her for so far, but I want to be sure it's 100% justified before I bring that into it. I've never been able to stand people who abuse the legal system with that argument.

Cficole, I'm living with my parents and lil' sis in Naperville.

JOD, I'm so sorry to read about your accident. Take care of yourself and let your lawyer worry about the insurance company.

As for the bike -- pshaw -- you've got plenty of time to get that mess sorted out. No matter how attached you think you feel to it, it's still just a thing. There are plenty of other bikes out there, so there's no need to sweat this one.

Glad to hear you are recovering well! You are a very lucky man! Kudos to your parents for taking care of you and your friend for storing your bike. So glad to hear you posting the positive feedback!

It has been said that you get what you pay for, well this is true,
but in your case you will only get what that bitch has paid for. If
she only bought enough insurance to get by, then you are **** out
of luck. An old man ran a stop sign and I nailed him at 65 mph on
a 2000 HD wide glide. Did his insurance pay for my bike? Yes.
Did his insurance pay for my care flight? No! Did his insurance pay
for all five days in ICU? No! Did his insurance pay for a damn thing
that they were not required by law to have to pay? No! Was i left to
have to pay for everything that his insurance did not have to pay?
Yes! All that I can say Is good luck, and get a phone answering
machine because you will need it for the next seven years or so
to talk to the phone hounders, so you, or yours don't have to.

Glad to hear you got a lawyer early. I'm sure you heard the explanation about not knowing how long the effects of the injuries may last, so it's hard to tell just what the eventual accumulation of costs might be. Hang in there on your recovery -- step by step.
