I have a Hillside horsehide vest and the construction quality is excellent. The horsehide leather seems quite thin compared to my Schott horsehide jacket but for me it is ideal for a vest. My one complaint is the smell that came out after a ride in some rain and it is still there after a 3k mile ride in Colorado. I had to leave it in the garage draped over my bike.
Hillside has more than one employee . When I ordered my vest I was dealing with the owner, Joseph (I think he is the owner) and they were in the process of moving their operation from NY to FL.
Looks like a nice jacket. But I have to ask, why buy something that was sanded in order to make it look older?? Why not just buy a jacket and wear it out yourself??
I ask my daughter all the time why she spends $40 for a pair of jeans that are in worse shape than the ones I throw away. I just don't get it.
I think it's because people want the look they want now. Not buy a neatly pressed nerd jacket and wear it for 17 years for it to look cool and worn. Rather buy the jacket looking cool and worn now. Makes sense. Same with kids and jeans. Rather than starting with an iron nerd slack and waiting the whole school year for them to be cool and hip, and buy that time school is over, but to have that style now. Why wait for style?
