Whatever the future holds, Harley will still make motors that are both visually appealing and powerful. Harley has never been a "cookie cutter" motorcycle manufacturer. Like BMW and Ducati, they set themselves apart by offering unique high quality machines.
Their product may change with the times, but their morals on design and priority on customer satisfaction won't.
I am 73 years old and love my old 99 air cooled solid mounted EVO powered Softail Custom with a carb, so I don't really care what they do. EFI and water cooling are what the gov. is forcing down our throat for no reason except more control of our freedoms. Tell me how many motorcycles it would take to increase polution. Of course, I am just and old coot that has been around long enough to see our freedoms over many years taken away for no reason. If you have not been around for 60 or 70 years it is hard to understand. The stupidiy of the 60's brought us to where we are today. If I sound bitter I really am not. I got to live the good years. It is just the facts. At the age of 15 I rode my first Harley "45" all over without a tag. I never got stopped. Try that today.
