Default tough choice

Hi all,
I am new here and have a simple yet tough question. I haven't rode my own bike since '92 when I had to sell my '86 Low Rider Sport to pay for a divorce....now I am shopping to celebrate my current divorce!

I am looking at a Road King and the Electra Glide Standard, both new, and my riding tendencies lean to the following;

75% around town, sometimes 2 up, including my 8 yr old daughter
15% long weekend rides, probably no more than 3 or 4 hours away
10% long trips....would love to do Sturgis, and Daytona is only 3 hours away...

Ok, your assignment....am I missing something? Are these the best models to choose from? Which one would be better?

I thank everyone for your input......

Frank

I think you would like the King very much[8D] What I did was rent the bike that I thought I would like.
I took the Ultra

I'm with Markuda on this one. I just bought an '05 EG Standard, but I'm partial to the fairings on the front when riding with the wife and my 13 yo. RK is going to allow you option to personalize a little more...

Welcome to the forum, and post pics when you finally get your new ride!

Both bikes are great choices. The king is a little better in warmer weather in that you can shed the windshield. The electraglide is great in that you can easily add a radio, if thats something you like.

thanks for the info so far guys....I like the idea of the fairing, maybe to play some ZZ Top real loud to **** off the rap crap people.....but don't want something as complicated as an Ultra....I like the Ultra, just want simpler....at least for now....I'll probably change my mind next bike. LOL
If I get a RK, does anybody like the Custom? With the small windscreen it would offer enough protection for everyday riding....

There is a detachable batwing style fairing through aftermarket for the RK. It would allow you to install a radio and remove the whole fairing should you not want it on all the time. I would have installed one on mine but with the ape hangers I didnt feel it would look right so I went with something different with the radio.
