I have a 2013 Fat Boy Lo. Last year at the end of the season I had a battery that went dead. I was in disbelief that a battery that young had not enough juice. The shop checked the charging system and battery, found no issue. I pull it in during the winter and trickle charge
Now that I am riding again not chraging and sure enough I have had a few slow cranks and a quick flash battery light. So not so impressed with my Harley battery and want to get something that will last longer. Could you please suggest a brand and do any of you order on line ?
Many of us are very happy with our H-D batteries, I just replaced the original one on my 2007 bike, at 8 years old. There are plenty of brands available, but make a point of getting an AGM type. I bought a Yuasa - made in the USA!
Yuasa has always made good batteries. If your pleased with them, i would continue to use them. That being said, HD batteries are also very good, although you have had a bad experience(s). They are made in the USA by East Penn Manufacturing that are sold under various different labels. "Harley-Davidson", "Deka", "Big Crank" to name a few. I personally usually buy "Deka" online at significantly lower prices than Harley branded.
When you say "trickle", I hope you are referring to a charger that is also a "Maintainer".
I've always had good luck with Power Source batteries in the past. When my Fat Bob battery died, I decided to order their Lightning Start 500CCA model.
