The RED K&N spray is to oil cotton filters. It is not a cleaner. I use the following K&N filter recharger kit. It comes with a cleaning spray (works very well) and filter oil (Be careful not to over oil the filter).
Filters are usually made of one of three different types of material e.g. Cotton, Sponge/Foam or Paper. If you do not have a cotton or sponge/foam filter then it is most likely not serviceable. If you have a paper filter then I would just replace the filter element instead of attempting to clean it.
Also, if your air filter is exposed to the elements like the air cleaner below, invest in a rain sock. It will extend the life of the filter.
One more thing, the filter in the picture above is a 4 inch K&N cotton filter. The cotton is shaped and protected by a wire/metal mesh screen. Is this what you mean by "Wired"?
