Default question re Dyna engine wire

Greetings. First off, as you will see from my question, I am not a mechanic.

Question is: what is the wire that attaches to the lower right front of a Dyna engine? Here is a picture of it:

While washing the bike this morning, I noticed it was not connected. Possibly I knocked it loose. Possibly it came off its own during the previous day's ride? I dried the male and female bits thoroughly and reconnected it.

It seems to be sitting fairly firmly, but is not by any means locked into place.

What does this wire do? Shall I just acquire heat resistant electrical tape and attempt to secure it? Of does the fact that it let go (or is perhaps a bit loose) mean it wants replacing?

It's the oil pressure sender that the wire is connected to. Someone may chime in with a fix for the loose connection.- Rob

Looks like the wire protection tube slid out of the boot.. Just slide it back in..

Thanks for the information; I reconnected the boot and taped the whole assembly in place with heat-resistant electrical insulating tape. Started bike...oil light came on and then went off in the usual way. Everything seems normal. Good for now, I guess.

I'm glad to know what this is...one less thing to wonder about.
