So I want to put a sissy bar on my 2015 street bob. I like the style of the tall type that kinda swoops back at the top. Harley told me that I need to relocate blinker and side mount plate. They said if I want saddle bags down the line ( I do for long trips) I would need to change around a bunch of stuff again. I just want to know my best choices. If is the tall bar I'm ok with that staying on the bike but would like to also be able to put saddle bag on and off. I know I could get the single side mount bag that straps on but don't know if it will fit enough. Thanks for your help.
I went with the detachable bar that I think you're describing, and I would definitely recommend it. I hate this look the least of all of them, but the Old Lady insisted I pick something, so what can you do Ż\_(ツ)_/Ż
The tail lights will need to be moved in order to install the mounts for removable gear, but for me that was a bonus because I also plan on using the mounts for saddle bags later. I love the lines on the Street Bob, so I hate to add to it in ways that take AWAY from the looks - hence insisting that the sissy bar and bags are removable.
Obviously your tastes, budget, and skill level may differ. Also, mine is an '09, and didn't come with a side-mounted license plate, so I didn't have to move that (but will, shortly!).
