Default "Battery Good Needs Charning"

What the heck does that mean? Had it tested at two places and thats what the computer said. "Battery Good Needs Charging" Misspelled it in subject which sucks for future searches.

If its good why isn't it holding a charge?
rated at 405 cca it tested at 450 and change.

Checked it last night with volt meter it went down to 9.4 while starting.

Bike was a bit hesitant to start and made a loud Crack noise like an aluminum baseball bat hitting a rock. happened a few times yesterday while bike was hot.
Is my battery dying or bigger problem? Batter is 2 years old and was left in the garage hooked up for two winters. not on a tender. Bike is 09 RK with 18,000 miles.

Battery? Stator? Starter? Compensator?

Thanks!

All that's telling you is that the battery cells are all good and it's capable of holding a charge but it needs to be re-charged. Riding the bike for 30 or 45 minutes isn't going to give it a good deep charge. Winters and extreme cold temperatures can be deadly to a battery if not hooked up to a tender. Get on the bike and go for a 2 or 3 hour trip somewhere.

Sounds like you're hearing the compensator wind up and release. Makes a loud knock. Not saying I like it - just saying that's what it sounds like.

If it dropped momentarily to 9.4 when initially hitting the button I wouldn't be extremely concerned yet.
