Just wondering if anybody knew where i could pick up a few chrome bolts. Over the last month I lost a couple of my bolts and i really don't want to go to the stealership.
Ace and True Value usually have a reasonable stock of chrome stuff that fits the bike. http://www.chromebolt.com/has a great selection, but you get screwed in shipping - only a good option if you have no other choice.
For stuff that I can't find at Ace or True Value, I go to a local supply store "Vancouver Bolt and Supply"... most cities have one of these gems hidden around somewhere (of a different name of course). If they don't have what I need, they can pretty much order anything.
I think chrome bolts look nice.....but, I don't always agree with the price and I like seeing the markings on the bolt. I want my bolts to have the markings...so I KNOW I am putting the correct grade of bolt in there. I prefer stainless....
When purchasing chrome bolts....make sure you know what grade the bolt is. Don't guess!! You don't want to chance lower grade bolts on critical components. Look for grade 5 and grade 8. If you don't understand the markings....count the marks, then add two....that is the grade. A grade 8 bolt will have 6 markings.
Ace and other various hardware stores have most fasteners that are needed on a Harley.
