Size/Thread pitch for air cleaner mounting screws, Big Twin CV40
Hello all,
This is probably going to be amusing to some but I'm converting a 1982 Virago 750 from dual to single carb, and I chose a CV40 to do the job. The one I purchased appears to have come out of a big twin of some type, '99-2006 range, not sure if that matters.
Anyway, I have been searching the internet for hours trying to figure out what bolts to use for mounting a custom lightweight air cleaner directly to the carb. I have tried 1/4 20, and the threads do not appear to match up, nor would I like to force them. Does anyone know what the stock bolt thread pitch is, by chance? Any help is greatly appreciated.
I just ran a 1/4-20 bolt into the three mounting holes on the front of three different HD CV carbs. Those holes like to get buggered up, run a tap through them and you should be good to go!
