Engine cleaning
Anyone tried basic high temp silicon spray lube to coat engine to give it a black shiny like new look? Thinking this would also give extra protection from bare fins getting oxidized and dull as well.
I think the S100 engine bright contains silicone and have used it, sprayed on heavy and let it sit a bit, then lather up with soap and scrub off excess with bottle brushes to get in between fins and get grime and bugs out. Seems to work well but thought basic hi temp silicon spray would do the same.

Before this thread goes off the rails with people ranting about white residue again, he's talking about S100 Engine Brightener, NOT S100 Total Cycle Cleaner.
I know, I know, but the title of the thread is misleading
I use Engine Brightener as well, super easy. Just spray and forget.

Yes, silicone spray lubes will work, and I have never seen them damage anything. They are completely inconvenient to apply as they don't 'mist' well like most purpose-made engine brighteners do, and they end up blotchy. No discoloration or damage ever noted in my experience.
Buy a proper chemical for the job, Silkolene's Pro-Prep, or H-D Engine Brightener, only 2 products I ever use for that.
