Default Installing apes after a wreck

Not sure where this goes so please move it accordingly if it’s not right. On Oct 6th I was in a hit and run that totaled my ‘14 Street Glide. I broke my neck, ankle, big toe, really messed up my shoulder and got a pretty severe concussion as well.
I’m looking at replacing the SG with a ‘16 Road King and installing 18” apes. I want to do it myself but I can’t really wrench on anything because of my neck and shoulder. Any idea of the cost involved? I really don’t want to take it to the dealership and be railed but I’m not sure what to do.
Any advice?

Mac

Don't know the cost of installing apes but sorry to hear about your serious wreck.

Don't know for a RK, but HD wanted over $1,400 for a SG. I'd bet around $1,000.

Installing apes normally includes fitting the wiring through the bars and extending each wire if required. It can be very labour intensive, hence expensive to pay someone to do it. How about a local indy or custom shop? It won't take any less time, but labour costs may be lower than a dealer and they may be more familiar with doing it.
