Default Grind Un-dimpled Handle bars?

So I didn't look enough and I bought a set of jammer bars that are smooth so there is no room for the control cables to pass under the perch. Anything wrong with taking a dremel wheel and grinding out a slot to let the wires pass? Can't imagine it'd be much different then pre-drilled holes form internal wiring as long as its a smooth edge.

THanks!

are these 1" bars and are they stainless or chromed steel?
the hole method could work but be sure to radius the hole and put some kind of protective barrier to prevent chaffing.
your other option is to dimple them by having a machine shop use a press and form to shape the dimple.
what i did with my bars was to remove the connectors so i could snake the loom through the bars internally. under the grip i machined a beveled hole which is hidden by the grip or hsg. under the bars between the risers, i machined out a slot and passed the wires through and installed the connectors. that way no looms cluttering the bars.
now if your signals are bar mounted with wires dropping out the hsg, what i did was removed them from the bars and stud mounted on the tree and ran wires back up the tree behind the bucket.

Thought about this and is still an option, was just hoping to keep the clam-shells in one piece if possible.

That aside, I'd probably do what you originally said and cut a small trench where the dimples would otherwise be. Like Bustert mentioned, make sure to deburr your cut to keep the cables from being compromised. Regarding getting a machine shop to "press" in a dimple: There's definitely shops that could do this without issue, but I'm thinking there's a chance when pressing in the dimples they could also make the bars somewhat elongated or oval(like) when doing so. If it were me, I'd cut the trench.

If you grind through chrome, after you do a radius on the cut edges paint them with some heavy clear lacquer. Clear nail polish for damaged nails will work. Otherwise, you'll get rust and corrosion where the chrome layer is broken.
