H/Bar Master Cylinders
As for it all being metric, I have no problem with that. I don't care how it is measured. It is simply important that I know what that size is and as far as I can tell, a lot of current Brembo clutch masters are in fact 11/16" which rather indicates that imperial is still being used. Or have I been looking at pictures of the 11/16" size on old style masters? I'll check again, but I'm sure they were Brembo.
I really want to find out what sizes ARE available for both brake and clutch Brembo Master Cylinders. If there is no 9/16, then I can work with that info. But I don't want to base my plans on there being no such thing only to find out that in fact it does exist.
It would appear that the current Brembo brake masters are 15mm for twin discs. So what size are they for single discs?
I'm sorry to have to keep asking, but I'm seeing and being told conflicting information. I'm just trying to get to the bottom of exactly what sizes of Brembo Master Cylinders are, or have been used.
As also confirmed, I have mixed inch and metric sizes of caliper and m/c without difficulty, as have many others. It must be pointed out however, that statement has to be taken with a pinch of salt, as doing this sort of 'custom' stuff isn't backed up anything more solid than individual experience. But then that comment applies to much of what we get up to around HDF! I also have a pre-Brembo Deuce rear wheel and Brembo caliper in an old very pre-Brembo Evo Glide, but that's a long story.
We're doing our best to help, but you are giving us limited info to work on! If you want to use non-Harley Brembo parts, consider seeking out their own website for more detailed data. None of us is likely to have access to detailed data on these parts, except by dismantling one.
I'm not being secretive, it's just not relevant. I know what I want to achieve and know how to achieve it. I've been doing this for over 50 years. What I need is information. If H-D had a nice list of Master Cylinder bore sizes that they use and have used, I would be able to consult that and not trouble you guys about this. But they don't. Even their Service Manuals tend to not include such technical data. Appalling, but that's not untypical these days.
I am completely unconcerned about anything being metric or imperial. As above, it's irrelevant. All I need to know is the actual sizes. Quote in Angstrom units for all I care. Or fractions of a Parsec. It just doesn't matter. What does matter is that I know what the exact size is so I can make my decisions about what may or may not be suitable.
I'm sorry if this sounds rude in any way. It's not meant to be. I just want to find out the data. What sizes of Brembo Master Cylinder H-D use and have used. It really is that simple.
However I understand that this info is not readily available. I just hoped the experts here would be able to enlighten me. Ask me about Honda Master Cylinders and I'll bore (geddit?:-) you all day long, but I'm not so familiar with H-D's Brembo range. So hoping I might get some definitive answers about bore sizes here.
I'm more than happy to wax lyrical about my project if anyone is simply interested, but it has no bearing on my question about available M/C bore sizes.
Also I think the Visually Matching (very similar, not exact) Clutch Master (and actually even the NON-visually matching version) are all 11/16"
BTW, I don't think Brembo makes the Visually Matching Clutch Master.
If you're truly committed to this, you may be able to make a sleeve for the 11/16" master.
Good Luck

Interesting that there are Brembo 'look-alikes' in use. I hadn't considered that. But as long as they match I don't mind whether it's a real Brembo or not.
I'd still like to find a 9/16" or even 1/2" clutch in the Brembo style (i.e. visually matching) if possible, but still not sure if either exist or not.
I'm also wondering about the Brembo style masters used on the new Softails with single disc. What bore diameter are they?
