Long story short, I'm beginning research for storing my bike for an extended time. Living in the northeast I'm already familiar with winter storage. However next year I plan to be putting my bike onto storage for probably about 2 years. Maybe more maybe less. Before the rumors and jokes start to fly, I'm not going to jail. lol. The wife and I are planning to transition to fulltime RV life.
The end goal is to get a toy hauler to bring the motorcycle with us. However until we're ready to make a move on that financial disaster, we will be getting a trailer that cannot house the bike. Therefor I will be putting the bike into storage.
My question is basically What should I do to the bike? Use fuel stabilizer? Run it completely empty? anything to do to the oils? Battery I will pull. Its a 2010 Fat Boy. If I have somebody start it and let it idle for a while once a month will that do more harm than good?
If in extended storage, I would recommend taking the battery out and draining the fuel out. It wouldn't hurt to do a fresh oil change on it before storage and put some fogging oil in it.
Bring it down here. I'll ride for you every once in awhile, service it and keep it good till your ready for it to be part of your life again. I love taking in strays.
