Looking at getting some new riding boots. I like a harness/engineer style boot. Looking at tcx boots and red wing as my top two choices as of now. Need waterproof boots both have good ratings online. Both come with a good price tag around 250 for both sets. One advantage is I have a red wing store about 2 hours away so would be able to make a trip and get good fitting. No tcx boot dealers within 4 hours that I can find so would have to roll the dice on fitting. Just looing for any suggestions on either boot or maybe another option. Thanks

If you take a look in possibly the Harley Chat or OT section of this forum and do a search there, you'll find that the issue about which boot to buy has been discussed a few times. Hope this helps ya out.
TCX boots usually are true to size and more suitable for wider feet than many other brands. But you might try ordering from Revzilla.com, their shipping and return policy make returns and refunds easy.
Fwiw I had a pair of Redwings and was told they could not re-sole then because they no longer carried that style. I still have them and work around in yard with them.
red wing used to be a good boot and probably a great place to work since they got raises regularly with increase of price. home style company but they are NOT anymore. sad but the quality is down so much, i would not buy them, there are china made now. i worked the oilfields and rode with the same boots and they would last five years easily but now, on a 7/7 schedule, two years the tops.

No offense but wherever you took those boots to was just trying to rip you off and con you into buying new boots. If it had a Goodyear welt then the style of boot is irrelevant. It’s as simple as removing the sole and putting a new vibram on. That’s like saying you gotta buy a new truck cause we’re all out of Michelin tires for your vehicle......
