While the head is off, you may as well give those fins a good cleaning. I wish I had done that.
yeah, the bonus is this should fix my leaky rocker box gasket...... changed it 6 months ago, still seeps. Said screw it, it's a Harley. If it stops leaking, then I worry

I'm having him replace all 4 studs with new. Parts are with the bike already.
Removing a steel stud from an alloy casting is not easy IMHO. Find a local shop who can remove the stud for you and take the head to them and get them to install the correct replacement stud.
Most easy outs suck, These work the best.. The tapered ones wedge the stud into the threads. Always drill all the way through the bolt, It helps to reduce pressure on the treads and gives better engagement without locking the stud into the hole.
