2001 FLSTF Intermittent Starter Click
I recently bought a 2001 Fat Boy. Its got 39K miles. Every once in a while when I try to start it, I hear a click sound and nothing happens. I press the starter button a second time and it fires right up. I'm guessing either starter or starter solenoid. Is there a good way to test to see what is causing the issue?

Do not buy a new starter...
If the click is fairly loud, it is most likely you are hearing the solenoid.
You may need to replace the contacts. A solenoid rebuild kit is pretty cheap.
You can remove the solenoid cover an take a look before you buy any parts.
Clean all electrical connections, disconnect battery cables at both ends and clean them good.
Pull the connector from the start relay, clean the pins on the relay, or replace it (cheap).
Clean the terminals in the relay connector, make sure all terminals look good.
