General Topics/Tech TipsDiscussion on break in periods, rider comfort, seats and pad suggestions. Tech tips as they become available will be posted here.
Was out riding last week and stopped for a break. Turned off the key and the run switch. Went to start back up and no lights or power at all. Turned the key on and flicked the switch a couple of time and still nothing. So I tried to roll start the bike. It didn't start but all of the lights came on and the power came back. I rode it home and thought it was just a fluke. I went to ride over the weekend and again have no power. Tried the roll start trick again and it didn't work this time. Tightened the battery terminals and nothing changed. Had the battery tested and Autozone showed 100% charged and 12.7 volts. My local dealer is 3 weeks out on service. Rather than wait 3 weeks, what should I check next?
While you stated you checked the battery connections you didn't state that you checked the connections "End-to-End" for physical condition and tight connections.?
some models had issues with corrosion in the fuse block both front and back
i would have to pull a schematic but if your machines has a system relay, you can jumper it out and see if it fires up or if your machine has a similar relay, swap positions.
quick glance and it seems there is only a start relay, so all power loss is maybe a bad ign sw or tap off usually on the starter terminal from battery. check maxi fuse block
