My 1500# capacity bike jack just collapsed under my 800# electra glide. The entire jack frame twisted to the point where the ram popped out of the carriage and the steer handle tore right off around the weld. Oh yeah, it dinged the tank on the way down. This may or may not be appropriate to post in these forums, but hopefully I can prevent some bikers from falling victim to these pieces of **** jacks. This started out to be a quick oil change.
Yeah, I kinda do. I've got it dropped 2" and my pan won't fit under it.
Get the Harley oil drain pan from the dealer. $40, iirc, and it's the best one I've ever used. Slim enough to fit under most bikes, and will hold at least two full "3-hole" changes.
As far as the HF lift, I've done 75,000 miles worth of oil changes over the last 5 years with never a hiccup. Sorry you had yours fail.

The last time I visited HF, they had three identical jacks on display. All three had questionable/shoddy welds (IMO). These jacks are welded by humans, not robots. Luck of the draw when it comes to who welded yours.

For an oil pan I use the heavy foil roasting pans , cost only a few bucks! And they work perfect. terry
