Engine cooling fan

Hello,

A friend of mine wants to install an engine cooling fan, on the left side of the engine.
Does somebody know which direction the air should be blown, from outside to the engine or from the engine to outside ?

From outside to engine. Spark plugs/head is whete you want to focus the air movement.
