So I sealed the inside of my tank but did it with the gas cap on like a complete idiot now I mounted my tank getting ready to put gas in it and I can't get my gas cap off as it's sealed with the sealer I can't believe I did this. anything I could do about this so o don't have to buy new tank and get painted? Holy ****!!!!!!!
Gas caps are cheap enough, use channel lock plyers and try to twist the cap off. They will scar the cap, but you might get lucky and the cap will break loose.
So, not the usual gas cap post.
What I would do, unless somebody here has a better idea (which is very likely), would be to get a large set of Channel lock pliers onto the cap and gently try to break it loose. Protect the cap and the tank surface around the cap with layers of tape and then as much protective padding as you can. Even if you end up sacrificing the cap it would be better than the alternative.
