Just did a belt change on my '12 Fat Bob.
While in the primary I noticed that the stock chain tensioner was badly worn so I replaced it with a V-Twin manual tensioner.
I just started the bike and noticed that it makes a rather loud whirring noise. I adjusted it with 3/4" of play in the chain as per the Harley recommendation(5/8"-7/8"). That is to say, I measured the upward movement only.
Is this normal? The noise that is?

If your measuring just your top play , it's probably running to loose . You should be measuring the entire chain play . First start by pushing down on the chain , and then up , measure full play . If you can . mark the compensator and rotate your primary 1 full turn and remeasure .

Ok, will do. I just ordered a new BDL clutch kit and a throw-out(?) kit so I'll be back in there in about a week anyway. It's quieted down some and I'm thinking I was just being paranoid about the new sound.
