So just went through the rocker boxs everything appears to be solid - adjusted S&S pushrods 4 turns and runing new feuling race lifters that I installed to replace new S&S lifters and I’ve got the loudest tick / tapping sound I’ve herd yet ! It’s not rockers and it’s not lifters ! It’s constant and loud it keeps time with the RPMs any thoughts ? I have video but can’t get it to post
Maybe i missed a different thread? But tell us more about the bike, year, model, mileage, any mods, when did the noise start? Does rpm make it better ...worse?
03 road king billet lower rocker cover and biker rocker arm support plate , ultima roller rockers , feuling econo springs , Andrews 48s , S&S quicker pushrods , s&S pushrod Covers tubes have been shortens and honest on both ends for added clearance , feuling cam plate & oil pump , freedom 2 into 1 pipe , Arlen ness 65 big sucker , power vision & auto tune , brisk racing spark plugs , feuling race lifters , baker 23T comp sprocket & fat shoe adjuster , BDL performance clutch , all ***** performance inner primary bearing ,Rocker lockers .
I have zero issues with lifters / PR are adjusted correctly / valve springs are shined properly for cam lift and And rocker ratio 1.675 And I milled down the inside of the rocker box covers to avoid rocker arm contact preemptively!
This nasty ticking sound started the other day bike only have 8K miles on it I’m about to install a traxxion Dynamics AK20 kit up front and a 98 big bore kit with stage 2 heads just placed into the mail done by short block Charlie only thing that I don’t have yet are my S&S non roller rocker arms and my new smith bro pushrods and their pushrod tubes since pushrods contacting tubes is a possibility for my setup seeing as the clearance on the exhaust Pushrods is very tight on the engine side of the tubes . Despite the fact im about to install a completely new top end on the bike it’s got less then 9K in miles and I want to fix the current setup it’s become a challenge at this point but after going through the entire bike short of splitting the cases and I can’t find anything Painfully obvious ! I need some direction here compression is where it should be !
I’m readjusting s&S pushrods to 27 flats as opposed to 24 flats=4 turns this is 4.5 Turns This should quiet things up a bit and help to rule out a faulty adjustment waiting for front cylinder to bleed down now Fingers crossed 🤞
Maybe you need some more manufacturers involved in your component selection! You’ve got all of them covered!,
I've got nothing constructive, Just got a kick out of all the different components.
