I bought an old sportster ironhead 1973 with a suicide clutch. I ended up snapping it and therefore had to send it to shop. This guy is known in town for being the best but after leaving his shop and not even half way home, all my gears slipped out. At first it was shifting great to 1to2to3to4 and then bam they all slipped out and I couldn’t drive anything other than 1st gear. The mechanic is having a tow truck pick it up tomorrow morning and he’s going to look at it. I don’t know if it’s the gears are shot. Or something else. I know iron heads are temperamental but I should have at least got to enjoy the bike more than 10 minutes after all I spent
Ok benefit of the doubt here, welcome to the forums first off, secondly we have sub forums specifically for old iron piglets and you'd be much better served taking this into that area. You'll get a much more tech minded group who knows those machines, most in this section don't own anything over 10 years old.

Cut the guy some slack. Did y'all know all the rules the first time you joined? It's a little confusing, especially if you are in a hurry to rant.
Verity, stick around. Once you know your way around, you will get some top notch advice from some experienced mechanics. Along with some ball busting. Welcome to HDForums.
I don`t understand why you think this bike should have lasted more than 10 minutes down the road, you bought a 47 year old Sportster that has been modified with some sort of suicide clutch and shifting contraption.
First thing I would do would pitch all that crap into the dumpster and return the bike to it`s original shifting/clutch configuration.
Start a new post (without the whining) over on the Sportster Models section of the forum, there are some very sharp Sportster guys there.
