I have recently noticed while riding a noise coming from my 2005 1200 Sportster. I can't tell where it's coming from. It sounds like a tinking noise so I immediately thought it was the Gremlin bell making the noise. I then looked and noticed I had lost the bell so it wasn't that. It seems to make the noise during the 1st half hour of riding and it's intermittant. After about a half hour, I don't seem to hear it. When I park the bike for a while and go again, I'll hear it intermittantly again. Do you think it's something I have to worry about?
Gonna need more info, hard to say without it. Do you ride w/ anyone? maybe they can help. Think about these questions next time you're out; Do you hear it when 1) rolling on/off the throttle 2)while breaking 3) while cornering 4) on rough road surfaces 5) riding two up 6) is the oil/tranny/primary serviced properly 7) check security of all cables/tool bags/fasteners. New noises are scary if you can't find them, but without a little more info it will be hard to help determine what it is.
