Huge improvement moving those lower fairings up to meet the windshield. Still some minor buffeting at higher speeds (65+) but I may be able to work that out adjusting up/down knowing now that I need to keep the gap between the windshield and lower fairings to a minimum.

Almost no buffeting happening now on secondary roads.

Glad you got it figured out , a little fine tuning should make it even better . I noticed in your last pic , the gap between the windshield and headlight might be a bit much , 1/2" should be good , and if there is a way to pull it back so the head light sticks out further , that would help also .

Good news, that’s a really nice shovel you have there!

Yup I figured that gap is a bit excessive. I'd like to bring the windshield down a bit anyway this way I am more looking over the windshield rather than thru it. Before, lowering the windshield seemed to make buffeting worse but that may have been due to the big gaps between the lower shields and windshield.

At least now I seem to have a decent enough baseline to revert back to if needed.

I know a different animal but on my Ultraglide the things that work are keeping my lowers open I also did a tank lift. I also think helmet choice. I had a Harley branded helmet that was terrible I bought a Shoei and it’s much better. These things helped my situation and every change helped a little more but there were trade offs.

Really, the only way to eliminate buffeting with a full size windscreen is to add lowers. Most Dynas make their own from lexan. Other than that you need to shorten the screen so that clear air blows past your helmet. Ugly or comfortable, your choice. Of course, the above opinion is just that, my opinion based on dozens of motorcycles. So shoot that shot and throw the salt over your shoulder and make your decision and get riding.

Buy naked bike, add windshield and endlessly try to avoid buffeting. I don’t get why you buy a naked to then add a windshield. Ride the wind, be free, embrace the wind, rain and bugs, be zen with the world....ok I’ve definitely had too much to drink tonight, continue.

Beautiful Bike!

Just last night I ordered a set of HD 'fangs' for the Heritage Softail. I've got the HD helmet and the wind buffeting is beating my brains out.

I've never seen Memphis Shades lowers before and I like the looks of them. 'Looks less obtrusive than the 'fangs'. If they would fit the Heritage Softail I'd go that route, but I suspect they would not fit.

If the fangs don't fix my issue, then I'm afraid the windshield will have to go.
