I went to a dealership and picked up carburetor seals for the screaming eagle intake for the 42mm bore... One dealership told me that they were discontinued, found them at another one...

Guess where I won't buy parts from or a bike if I ever buy a newer one

HD way of jacking up parts and Labor cost. Get use to it.

Just curious but are there any other places that you can order a strap besides at the dealership?

Tell them to put a big zip tie on it to hold the battery in place so you can ride. Then tell them to call you when the part gets in so they can install it. Problem solved, unless of course there is something else going on.

It took my dealer in Alberta approx 4 months to get me a service manual , but hey I will need it eventually. I prefer paperback versions .

I ordered an online version , service , electrical , and parts manuals ( usb stick ) in the mean time. Now I can carry it with me to far away places.

This is who I deal with. A local shop. HD is a bit over an hour from me in Murfreesboro TN, down in Chattanooga over an hour. I will stick with my local aftermarket shop. Good people, treat you like a customer not a dollar sign. Before I bought my bike Jan 30 2021 they answered every stupid question I had. Now my bike goes to them when in need of some work.
They had the same problem a while back. Things are starting to pick up now.

Good grief people! We are in the 2nd year of a pandemic. There are shortages everywhere especially for anything made overseas. If you don't find a way to deal with it you will drive yourself crazy!!

Right now we have local GM production plants shut down because of the truckers strike closing the Ambassador Bridge in Detroit. Auto parts can't get over here, so the auto plants have to close down due to lack of parts. This has not been something new and brewing...this crap has gone on for well over a year now. Hell, even local supermarkets have a massive amount of empty shelves. All I can say is get used to it. Do searches for alternate parts. Get creative on some things. And be patient. I don't believe the dealers are doing this to **** you off.

HD seems to have no issue building new bikes but many sit waiting on parts for warranty repair and other repairs. Deal suggest trading and buying a new one while it waits.
