Hello,
Could someone tell me what the latest heat gear is out on the market? It has been about 10 years since I bought some and am thinking of upgrading what I got. Recommendations would be highly appreciated.
I have friends with Gerbing and they love it, I bought my stuff from Cycle gear, Jacket and pants liner and gloves about 10 years ago still working fine.
I was lucky enough to pick up the HD 1-touch jacket and gloves.
Next to Gerbings, the HD works well and love the remote control. Place that on the wrist or handlebar for easy usage.
Gerbings are hardwired temp controls. Problematic at times unless hard mounted.
I have gerbing and California Comfort 12v with dual controller.Jacket liner and pant liners. And I have gloves. Most likely will be for sale shortly. I’m impressed with the 7.4v gear.I have a Harley vest and I just purchased Fieldsheer base layer pants. I rode this last Sunday at 40 degrees and my torso was warm. I had a couple layers on my legs so no heat there yet.I’ll get my bottoms in a week. The advantage for battery is you don’t have to unplug from bike.Easier to use the rest room.No load on your charging system. With battery you simply get off your bike.Turn the heat down a notch and go about your business. The convenience is simple with battery.Go to the warming store.com
I have both 7v and 12v. The 7v gloves are Glyde which I believe might be the Gerbing 7v brand and a 7v jacket. Both of these 7v products are great for short term rides (less than 2 hours) but I find after that they become ineffective because of weak batteries. I know higher settings cause shorter heating but even with a lower setting I still find about 2 hours and they are done.
The 12v Gerbing does the job, however, be careful selecting the gloves. I find that getting my gloves to fit nicely over the cuffs of my jacket can be a pain especially if you're trying to do it with the hand that is already "gloved up" and even a slight opening will fill your sleeve up with cold air that will seep into your torso. As far as the torso I have only the 12v liner and it works fine.
