Anyone have a source or hack for side cover studs? I'd hate to come out of retirement just to 3D print and sell these little suckers. BTW - I have had the best success reattaching them with J-B Welds KwikWeld.
Taking a wild guess that maybe what you describe is located under frame> frame assembly w/side cover in a parts link.
Could it be the plastic stud that is broken for part 66670-97a & 66619-97a
Not knowing exactly how it broke..perhaps threading plastic for a compatible a ball end threaded stud.
If at least one stud was holding then I would be tempted to just drill a small hole at top and bottom rear of side cover.
Then use a zip/tie to frame.
Not viewable under seat and behind saddlebag.
Below is a link to a parts finder. http://partsfinder.onlinemicrofiche.....asp?make=hdmc
I have one that broke off. I cleaned the mating parts with acetone and used superglue to bond it. Additionally I took some ABS plastic filament I use in my 3d printer. Melted that down and built up around the cracked area.
