I have the cheap Frogg Togg and it works well for me. My boots come up above the hole that's burned in the right leg, so no issue there. And also, I usually wait until I'm pretty wet to put on my rain suit. So no worries with the leaks around the neck, zipper etc.
To add constructive comment: My wife (the smarter of us) has the HD Hi Vis rain suit and would recommend it.
I recently bought the HD Full Speed II rain jacket, and have ridden through a storm in it. All good. https://www.harley-davidson.com/us/e...t/p/98105-23VM
Even though Tall sizes are not listed in the HD P&A catalog on-line, I found one at my local dealer.
I do not have the Full Speed II rain paints since I already had a pair of 33,000’ rain/wind pants I bought on Amazon that seem to work as well as they need to, come in Tall sizes, and were much less expensive. The HD Full Speed II pants are also listed in Tall sizes.
Apparently the HD Full Speed II line of rain gear is replacing the High Vis line of gear, because those prices are gutted out on line. I would also check the reviews.
The one thing I can’t seem to find from HD or anywhere, based on reviews and a price I’m willing to pay, is a pair of rain pants that the legs/cuffs zip up high enough to be able to don the pants or take them off over my boots (size 14).
HD makes the good stuff. Riding to Sturgis this year, my buddy and his lady consistently got wet while we stayed dry.
I suggest the suit, boot covers and water proof gloves. All of my stuff is from HD and it works. All day rain can really suck if you get wet and cold.
No one makes boots that are water proof enough for all day rain. I have never seen anybody wearing Frogg Toggs stay dry in real rain on the highway. Good luck.
My Bates Tahoe boots have not let my socks get wet, even after days of rain and gravel roads, puddles 6” deep on my trip to Alaska last year. in the Yukon, the only gas pump had been hollowed out by massive trucks so I had to stand in 6” of water to refuel. Feet never got wet. Unfortunately, I bought these boots long ago so I don’t know if the Bates Company still exists of if they like so many others, switched to having stuff made in China. I wear my regular engineer boots for hot and dry days and carry in my tour pack, my Bates for severe weather.
In the winter, I have neoprene boots. Mine are Bogs. Totally dry and warm, even below freezing. They ain’t motorcycle boots by definition, but they are awesome boots for riding a motorcycle in cold shitty weather.
So I don’t believe that you can say, you can’t get waterproof boots. Either that, or I’m one lucky son of …..
I think maybe the moral of this entire thread, if you want to stay dry, buy quality. You cheap out, you only cheap out yourself.
Give some thought to just getting some dam good riding gear. Great in rain or cold. Even in hot weather. Has protection built in but is removable . Buy it right and the cost is not bad.
Pockets that will hold stuff and water proof. Will not come open and lose stuff.
I wear one made by Sedici.
Put it on at 0300 yesterday morning in Clarksville TN. 52 degrees ,maybe some rain. Roll out and the storm hit 3 mile latter.
Another at KY,IL state line. Temps warmed up comfortable with all on. More rain in IL. The it really warmed up. No need to take it off. 630 mile ride.
I used HD rain gear and the good stuff is pretty good. But nothing beats good real riding gear.
