$10K? I don't think so,I bought my wife a brand new 883 in 2004 for $6495 out the door with a warranty.
Average price for a used 2003 in good shape is less than $4000,you'll be in it tipple upside down on it by the time you give it what it needs to be a runner.
Even if you got it for $5K and then spent money doing what is needed it would still be too much IMO.
Here is an inflation calculator page - calculator
If you plug in $6495 in 2004 to today, the price would be $10,547. Those 6500 dollars then were stronger dollars than today. I'm not saying the Bike in a Box is worth any amount as I have no idea whether or not it needs work or rodents have taken up residence, or water soaked in or whatever. I wouldn't just throw a wet blanket over it, though, the way inflation has raged these last 20 years.
How much was a new 883 in 2022? Motorcycle.com shows $11,249. In 2024 that would equate to $11,790 today. Then there's dealer prep charges tagged on top of that.
8K for a new bike that needs a set of tires doesn't exactly stink. A Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 costs about $6150 + $750 shipping from India + $250 dealer prep at a dealer near here. $7150. For a 47 hp vertical twin with Indian electronics and few dealers available to service it.
Just sayin.
Right you are. It is a 2003 Harley Davidson XL883 Custom Sportster 100th Anniversary. I have no idea why I put the softail bit in there. Probably just my alzheimers, or that fact that I'm not that bright!

$5500 bike if you are a good mechanic. But only if it's s bike you desire. It's not a flipper bike.
